It's my passion to design outstanding UX and to guarantee high-quality implementation in order to delight users with the best possible product experience in their individual context!
UX DESIGN CONSULTING
In consulting, the focus lies on the assessment (Heuristic Evaluation) of the user experience of your digital product and the recommendation based on this to optimize it (UX Design Roadmap/Strategy). With a new product, consulting is about putting the user in the centre of development and aligning the product with the user’s needs and desires in order to be successfully accepted on the market later.
You get an expert's assessment of the user experience of your digital product and a detailed recommendation of what steps are necessary to optimize it.
The assessment covers the three essential aspects of an interactive product: interaction design, visual design and content design. Each of these aspects of the system to be evaluated is examined, for example, for deviations against evaluation criteria, the so-called heuristics (e.g. "10 Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design" by Jakob Nielsen).
The recommendation contains all necessary steps and actions that are to be taken to improve the user experience. The goal is to put the user with his or her needs for your product in the focus of further development. Actions come from the areas of user research, interaction design, visual design and quality assurance.
UX DESIGN DIRECTION
The direction includes the execution and control of measures that we jointly agree on to improve the user experience of your digital product. The design thinking method builds the basis here. The user-centered approach puts the future user at the centre of product development.
In an discover and define phase users will be interviewed and observed to identify the real problem statement. The findings from this phase form the basis for the ideate phase, in which ideas and solutions are designed to develop the best possible user experience. Experience plays a crucial role in deriving the right innovations and optimizations for the product. In a validate phase, solutions will be tested with a target audience using prototypes and then further optimized and adapted. Since the overall process is based on an iterative approach, it is crucial for quality and efficiency at which point in time to move on to the next phase or return to the previous one.
The advantages of this human-centered approach are obvious. If you empathise for your users and identified their real problems, you can develop the right solution and design a product that meets expectations and is used with pleasure. The iterative approach and early validation ensure this and save costly adjustments to the final product.
That’s me, Simon!
I started as a Frontend Engineer, switched to Usability Engineering and finally developed into a Lead UX Designer. In nearly 15 years I have gained professional experience in almost all areas of digital product development. My expertise ranges from freelancing and start-ups over design agencies to major international corporations including leadership of design teams (3-4 designer & researcher) up to several product units (user research, product, design, development).
Having returned to very practical work as a freelancer and senior designer for the last two years, I know exactly the current needs and challenges of today's designer. Combined with my extensive leadership experience, I am well prepared to support my UX associates in the most effective and meaningful way.

T-Shaped Skill Set
Identifying user needs and designing the appropriate interaction is my passion and core competence. Due to my engineering background and numerous project experiences, I also have a broad knowledge of related disciplines such as frontend engineering, product management or service design. This gives me a holistic view of the product life cycle and customer journey.
