WOLF Digital – Lupine Design System

Case Study – Building a scalable design system for a multi-brand HVAC ecosystem

CONTEXT

WOLF, a leading company in the HVAC industry (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning), operates several digital products across two brands and three product categories — in total more than ten applications. The goal was to establish a company-wide design system ecosystem that ensures a consistent user experience across all digital touchpoints.

CHALLENGE

The main challenge was to align the diverse requirements of multiple product teams and develop a solution that could be efficiently integrated into products at different stages of development — from already live to newly started.

APPROACH

  • Designed a scalable information architecture that allows future services and features to be integrated flexibly
  • Developed an automated end-to-end design-to-development handover
  • Introduced an incremental implementation approach focusing on fundamental components (e.g., switches, dialogs, buttons)
  • Worked closely with product owners and developers to ensure seamless integration across all platforms

IMPACT

  • Established a scalable design system ecosystem for two brands and three product categories
  • Achieved significantly higher consistency and efficiency in product development
  • Reduced maintenance efforts through automated token integration
  • Created the foundation for a long-term, cross-brand design strategy
